New study trains therapists to tackle Cancer's hidden toll: distress, pain, and sleeplessness

Summary

This study trains psychotherapists to give personalized talk therapy to cancer patients and their caregivers who are feeling very distressed. Therapists learn to use proven methods like cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help with anxiety, depression, pain, fatigue, and insomnia. About 75 patients, 25 caregivers, and 15 therapists will take part over 26 weeks. The goal is to see if people find this therapy helpful and satisfying.
