First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looked at how long-distance trail running (40 to 160 km) affects muscle fatigue, heart function, sleep, and energy balance. Researchers measured muscle strength before and after races in 83 experienced runners. The goal was to better understand the physical stress of these events, not to test a treatment.
