New hope for COPD sufferers: drug targets high eosinophils to cut Flare-Ups
NCT ID NCT06897748
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a drug called tozorakimab in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who have a history of flare-ups and high levels of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell). The trial involves 98 participants who receive either tozorakimab or a placebo every two weeks for 12 weeks. The goal is to see if the drug improves lung function and reduces the number of COPD exacerbations.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
tozorakimab
What this could lead to
If successful, tozorakimab could become a new treatment option to reduce COPD flare-ups and improve breathing in patients with high eosinophils.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 98 participants, so results may not apply to all COPD patients. The drug may not improve lung function or reduce exacerbations significantly, and side effects are still being studied.
