Summary
This study tested the drug topiramate in 18 severely obese children and teens aged 9 to 17. The goal was to see if it could lower their Body Mass Index (BMI) more than a placebo over 9 months. Success was defined as a BMI reduction greater than 2.5%. The study also tracked side effects and other weight-related changes.
