First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a weekly injection of tirzepatide (a diabetes/weight-loss drug) combined with cognitive-behavioural therapy can help adults with alcohol use disorder and overweight/obesity reduce heavy drinking days. 46 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo shot plus therapy for 8 weeks. Researchers will track drinking habits, weight, and brain activity to see if the combination works better than therapy alone.
