Furry friends get trauma patients moving: study shows dogs reduce pain and anxiety
NCT ID NCT07227181
Summary
This study tested whether walking with a certified therapy dog helps adult trauma patients move more during their hospital stay. Each of the 64 participants took two walks—one with a dog and one without—to compare pain, anxiety, and walking distance. The goal was to see if animal-assisted therapy could make rehabilitation more enjoyable and effective for recovery.
