First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a telephone program called Be Smoke Free that uses guided imagery (a relaxation technique) to help people stop smoking. Over 1,200 daily smokers from Arizona, New York, and West Virginia took part. Participants received coaching calls and were checked at 3 and 6 months to see if they had quit, using breath tests to confirm. The goal was to find a scalable, effective way to help smokers quit.
