Phone coaching gets cancer survivors off the couch
NCT ID NCT00548236
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether talking to an exercise specialist over the phone can help breast and colorectal cancer survivors become more active. Many people become less active after cancer treatment, and this program aims to change that. The trial includes 120 participants who recently finished chemotherapy and will measure changes in activity, mood, and fitness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
telephone-based exercise counseling
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, scalable way to help cancer survivors become more active, potentially reducing recurrence risk and improving quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 120 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention relies on motivation, and some people may not increase their activity as hoped.
