Tears may hold key to early Alzheimer's diagnosis

NCT ID NCT06661564

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study is testing whether proteins and fats found in tears can help diagnose Alzheimer's disease. Researchers will collect tear samples from 90 people (some with Alzheimer's, some healthy) and look for specific biomarkers. If successful, this could lead to a simple, painless eye test instead of a spinal tap.
