Could group doctor visits help teens with diabetes?
NCT ID NCT06923046
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether shared medical appointments—where teens with type 2 diabetes meet their doctor in a group setting with educational activities—are a good way to deliver care. 160 teens aged 12-18 will either receive standard care or attend quarterly group clinics. Researchers will measure clinic attendance, blood sugar control, and patient satisfaction to see if this model improves outcomes and well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
shared medical appointments (group clinic visits with education and support)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more engaging and supportive way to manage type 2 diabetes in teens, potentially improving their health and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial (160 participants) testing a care model, not a new drug. The results may not apply to all teens or clinics, and the main goal is to see if the approach is acceptable, not to prove it works better.
