First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

Researchers will track changes in cannabis consumption, cravings, and overall functioning over 6 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) – a non-invasive brain stimulation device

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, drug-free way to help people with schizophrenia cut down or stop cannabis use, improving their overall health.

What could go wrong

This is an early exploratory study with only 110 people. The effects may be small or temporary, and not everyone may benefit. Brain stimulation can cause mild discomfort or headache.
