New brain scan study aims to uncover secrets of memory loss diseases

NCT ID NCT03143374

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study uses a special brain scan called PET to measure a protein called tau, which builds up in people with brain cell damage. Researchers will look at 300 adults with diseases like Alzheimer's, frontotemporal degeneration, and Parkinson's to see how tau buildup relates to memory and thinking problems. The goal is to better understand these diseases, not to test a treatment.
