NCT ID NCT07258563

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a home-based 'taste steering' program can improve food enjoyment for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. 201 adults with metastatic triple negative breast cancer, metastatic testicular cancer, or stage II-IV diffuse large B cell lymphoma will be randomly assigned to either the taste steering program or standard care. The program involves personalized guidance from a dietitian and at-home taste and smell exercises over 6 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

taste steering (behavioural intervention)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give cancer patients a simple, at-home way to enjoy food more during chemotherapy, improving their quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small, early-stage behavioural trial. The effect may be modest, and results might not apply to all cancer types or treatments.
