Heart failure recovery: time to cut the pills?

NCT ID NCT06724653

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at heart failure patients whose heart function has improved to normal levels. It tests whether gradually stopping one of their heart medications (RAS blocker or beta blocker) is safe, compared to staying on all medications. The goal is to see if patients can maintain their recovery without relapse. 150 adults are being recruited.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RAS blocker and beta blocker

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that some heart failure patients with recovered heart function can safely take fewer medications without their condition worsening.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial (150 people) and not yet proven. Tapering medication may cause heart function to decline again in some patients.
