Mapping the immune System's fight against certain cancers
NCT ID NCT04665388
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how T cells (a type of immune cell) respond to liver cancer and cancers linked to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human papillomavirus (HPV). About 105 participants will give blood and tissue samples once. Researchers will analyze these samples to identify cancer-specific T cells and their receptors. The goal is to better understand the immune response, not to test a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this research could help design better immunotherapies for these cancers by identifying key immune targets.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It is small (105 participants) and early-stage, so findings may not lead to direct patient benefits.
