NCT ID NCT06948929
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This pilot study is testing whether a daily synbiotic supplement called SCV09 can improve behavioral symptoms in people with Alzheimer's disease. The supplement contains probiotics, prebiotics, and vitamins thought to support the gut-brain connection. Thirty participants aged 60-85 with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's will take the supplement for several weeks, and researchers will track changes in mood, behavior, and daily function.

SCV09 (a synbiotic formula with probiotics, prebiotics, and vitamins)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple dietary supplement to help manage behavioral symptoms in Alzheimer's disease.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early pilot study with no placebo group, so results may not be reliable. The supplement may not improve symptoms at all.
