Can a vein viewer detect nerve damage? new study explores simple diagnostic tool
NCT ID NCT07029191
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study tested whether the ACCUVEIN, a device that projects veins onto the skin, can detect changes in vein size caused by the nervous system. Researchers had 12 healthy adults lie on a tilt table and slowly move from lying flat to standing upright. They used the device to see if veins narrowed as expected when the body adjusts to standing. If successful, this approach could lead to a simple, quick test for dysautonomia, a condition where the nervous system doesn't work properly.
