New short therapy could slash suicide risk in seniors

Summary

This study tests a brief therapy program (ASSIP-OA) designed to prevent suicide in adults aged 65 and older who have recently attempted suicide or had serious suicidal thoughts. About 132 participants will receive either the program plus usual care, or usual care alone. Researchers will track suicide attempts and deaths over two years to see if the program helps.
