Can a touch on the hands ease Asthma's breathlessness and sleeplessness?
NCT ID NCT07746570
First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study asks whether Su Jok therapy, a complementary technique that gently stimulates specific points on the hands, can reduce shortness of breath and improve sleep in adults with asthma. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either Su Jok therapy alongside their usual asthma care or usual care alone. Researchers will compare changes in breathing difficulty and insomnia between the two groups to see if this hand-based therapy offers added relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Su Jok therapy (gentle stimulation of specific points on the hands)
- What this could lead to
- If effective, Su Jok therapy could become a safe, supportive option to help people with asthma breathe easier and sleep better alongside standard care.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early-stage trial, so results may not apply widely. The therapy is complementary and not a replacement for asthma medication, and its benefits are uncertain.
