New scan may spare prostate cancer patients unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT06389786

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special PET/MRI scan can accurately predict if prostate cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. About 50 men with high-risk prostate cancer will get the scan before surgery to remove the prostate. The goal is to see if the scan can identify who truly needs lymph node removal, potentially sparing others from this extra procedure.
