Can a 3-Month pill change your Heart's future? scans aim to find out

NCT ID NCT06603363

Summary

This study aims to understand if a short, 3-month course of high-dose cholesterol medication (statin) can change the fatty buildup (plaque) in heart arteries, as seen on special heart scans. Researchers will follow 140 patients with chest pain but no prior statin use for 24 months, giving half the real drug and half a placebo. The main goal is to see if plaque shrinks after 3 months and if any changes last for 2 years, testing the idea of 'plaque memory'.
