NCT ID NCT05440812
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested an 8-week program called STAIRS for people recovering from depression. The program combines group meetings with homework exercises to help improve personal recovery and daily functioning. 36 adults in the final phase of depression treatment took part. The goal was to see if adding STAIRS to usual care leads to better personal recovery than usual care alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
STAIRS program (storytelling and training to advance individual recovery skills)
What this could lead to
If it works, this program could help people recovering from depression feel better in their daily lives and achieve a fuller personal recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program is added to usual care, so its specific benefit is uncertain.
