First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special nerve block (erector spinae plane block) given before major back surgery can reduce pain and blood loss during and after the operation. 120 adults having spinal stabilization surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or standard pain management. Researchers measured blood loss during surgery and pain levels afterward to see if the block helps patients recover better.
