Shocking paralysis: new device aims to restore movement

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether a device that sends mild electrical pulses to nerves and the spinal cord can improve arm, hand, or leg movement in people with paralysis from spinal cord injury, stroke, or other nerve damage. Up to 64 participants will attend up to 5 sessions per week for a year, each lasting up to 4 hours. The goal is to see if the stimulation can safely and effectively help restore some function.
