Spinal zaps tested for rare back pain cause

NCT ID NCT05811143

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This small study tested whether a spinal cord stimulator (a device that sends mild electrical pulses to the spine) can reduce pain in people with back and leg pain from a condition called epidural lipomatosis, where extra fatty tissue narrows the spinal canal. Three adults with chronic pain received the implant and were followed for 6 weeks. The main goal was to see if pain scores improved. This was a very early, exploratory study with no control group.
