Gel shield may cut bowel damage during prostate radiation

NCT ID NCT04905069

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether a gel called SpaceOAR Vue, placed between the prostate and the bowel, can reduce bowel side effects in men receiving high-dose radiation for prostate cancer. About 500 men with intermediate-risk prostate cancer will be randomly assigned to get radiation with or without the gel. The main goal is to see if fewer men have serious bowel problems in the two years after treatment.
