New scan may spare prostate cancer patients from extra surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a new type of PET/MRI scan can accurately detect if prostate cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. About 50 men with high-risk prostate cancer who are scheduled for prostate removal surgery will receive this scan beforehand. The goal is to see if the scan is reliable enough to safely skip the additional lymph node removal surgery in some patients.
