First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new device called SonoHeal that uses sound waves to help people with cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, or COPD clear mucus from their lungs. Fifteen participants will try the device at home to see if it is easy to use and acceptable. The study also compares it to standard chest wall oscillation therapy.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SonoHeal device (acoustic oscillation therapy)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new, easier-to-use option for clearing mucus from the lungs in people with cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, or COPD.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 15 participants. It focuses on usability, not on proving the device works better than existing treatments. The device may not improve lung function or symptoms.
