New strategy aims to make prostate cancer screening smarter

NCT ID NCT04782713

Summary

This study tested a new set of clear guidelines and patient support services to help primary care doctors make better decisions about prostate cancer screening using the PSA blood test. It involved training doctors and tracking their confidence and actions over a year, while also reviewing patient records to see if the new approach changed how often tests were ordered and referrals were made. The goal was to find a better balance between finding serious cancer early and avoiding unnecessary tests and procedures for less serious cases.
