Summary

This study tests whether adding sleep coaching to a standard weight-loss program helps teens with overweight or obesity lose more weight and improve their eating habits. Fifty adolescents aged 14–18 who have sleep issues (like trouble falling asleep or short sleep) will join a 16-week remote group program with weekly coaching on both lifestyle and sleep. Researchers will measure changes in weight, body fat, diet, and sleep patterns to see if better sleep leads to better decisions around food.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a group lifestyle modification program plus sleep coaching
What this could lead to
If it works, this approach could offer a practical way to boost weight loss in teens by targeting sleep problems.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Sleep coaching may not add significant benefit over lifestyle changes alone.
