Can a nighttime breathing machine sharpen minds and boost energy for veterans with lung and sleep problems?

NCT ID NCT04179981

Summary

This study is testing if using a positive airway pressure (PAP) machine at night helps older veterans who have both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea. Researchers want to see if the machine reduces daytime sleepiness, improves sleep quality and thinking skills, and leads to a better quality of life. They are comparing the PAP therapy to standard care and also testing two different types of PAP machines.
