One shot to stop cancer? HPV vaccine study tests Single-Dose power

NCT ID NCT05237947

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single dose of the HPV vaccine can protect young women (ages 18-30) from HPV infections that can lead to cervical cancer. Currently, two or three doses are recommended, but a single dose could make vaccination easier and cheaper. Researchers in Costa Rica will follow 5,000 women to see if one shot is enough to prevent persistent HPV infection.
