At-Home style HPV test at Walk-In clinics could boost cancer screening
NCT ID NCT07186530
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether offering women a simple self-collection kit for HPV testing at Express Care clinics (which have evening and weekend hours) increases cervical cancer screening rates. About 500 women aged 30–63 who are overdue for screening will either receive usual care or be invited to self-collect a vaginal swab at the clinic. The goal is to see if this convenient option helps more women get screened and follow up on abnormal results.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- HPV self-collection kit
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could make cervical cancer screening more convenient and accessible, potentially increasing early detection and prevention.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-site study with 500 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is already FDA-approved, so the main question is about uptake, not efficacy.
