New shortcut for pain relief: skipping the scan to speed up radiation

NCT ID NCT07117032

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a quicker method of giving radiation therapy to ease severe abdominal pain caused by pancreatic cancer. Normally, preparing for this treatment takes a week or more because a special planning CT scan is needed. Here, doctors will use the patient's existing diagnostic CT scan to plan the radiation, potentially delivering pain relief in just one or two days. Only 5 adults with advanced cancer and severe pain will take part to see if this faster approach works safely.
