Can a smartphone app ease teen anxiety and depression?
NCT ID NCT06004414
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a smartphone app called SilverCloud, which teaches cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) skills, can help reduce anxiety and depression in high school students. About 120 teens who screen positive for symptoms will either use the app with a clinician's guidance or receive standard school counseling. Researchers will measure changes in mood and anxiety over time and gather feedback on how well the program works in a school setting.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a scalable, school-based mental health option for teens with mild to moderate anxiety or depression.
