Hidden gut infection may explain stubborn symptoms in pancreas patients

NCT ID NCT07479238

First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at 100 adults with chronic pancreatitis or who had part of their pancreas removed. Even though they take enzyme pills, they still have belly pain, bloating, or diarrhea. Researchers will use simple breath tests to check if a gut bacteria overgrowth (SIBO) is the hidden cause. If SIBO is found, antibiotics may help ease symptoms.
