Faster shoulder rehab after surgery: does starting day one help?
NCT ID NCT03804853
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether starting an accelerated shoulder rehabilitation program immediately after reverse total shoulder replacement leads to better pain relief and function than the standard rehab approach. About 74 people with shoulder osteoarthritis will be randomly assigned to one of the two rehab programs. Researchers will track their progress for a year using questionnaires and range-of-motion tests.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- physical therapy (immediate accelerated shoulder rehabilitation vs. standard protocol)
- What this could lead to
- If the accelerated rehab works better, patients could recover shoulder function and comfort faster after reverse shoulder replacement surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial (74 people) comparing two rehab approaches. The accelerated protocol might not prove better than standard care, and results may not apply to all patients.
