Major study tests if shingles vaccine is safe for millions on Immune-Weakening drugs
NCT ID NCT05879419
Summary
This study is checking if the Shingrix shingles vaccine is safe and works well for people with autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. These patients are at high risk for shingles because their disease and medications weaken the immune system. Researchers are giving the vaccine to over 2,000 patients and healthy volunteers to see if it triggers disease flares and how strong the protective immune response is, including whether briefly pausing certain medications after the shot helps.
