First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a person's sex affects their risk of becoming confused after surgery (called postoperative delirium) and whether family visits help. Researchers will follow 471 older adults having non-cardiac surgery, checking for confusion twice daily and tracking how many visitors they receive. No treatments are tested; the goal is to understand these relationships to improve care.
