New Light-Based sensor could replace invasive heart monitoring
NCT ID NCT06649435
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new device called Seerlinq HeartCore that uses light sensors (photoplethysmography) to measure heart pressure without needles or catheters. Researchers enrolled 131 adults with heart failure to see if the device could accurately detect elevated filling pressure in the heart. If it works, this could allow doctors to monitor patients remotely and adjust treatments more easily.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could allow heart failure patients to be monitored at home without invasive procedures, potentially reducing hospital visits.
What could go wrong
This is a completed validation study with 131 participants, so results are preliminary. The technology may not be accurate enough for all patients or settings.
