School lunch makeover: can Co-Created menus curb teen obesity?
NCT ID NCT07332676
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This trial tests whether a nutrition program designed with input from students, parents, teachers, and cafeteria staff can improve the weight and eating habits of adolescents. About 2,600 teens in grades 7-9 across 52 schools in India and Nepal will take part. Researchers will measure height, weight, diet, and activity levels before and after 12 months to see if the program helps more teens reach a healthy weight.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
multicomponent school nutrition intervention
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a low-cost, scalable way to improve nutrition and reduce obesity in adolescents in low-resource settings.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with no results yet. The intervention is complex and may be hard to implement consistently across schools. Success depends on local buy-in and long-term maintenance.
