First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) supplements can reduce stomach and bowel side effects caused by radiation therapy for cancers in the belly or pelvis. About 122 adults receiving such radiation will be randomly assigned to get either the supplement or a placebo. The goal is to see if this low-cost, safe approach can improve quality of life during treatment.
