Muscle loss before surgery could predict tough recovery from colon cancer

NCT ID NCT06698289

Summary

This study aimed to understand how common muscle loss (sarcopenia) is in people about to have colorectal cancer surgery and how it affects their recovery. Researchers followed 70 patients, measuring their muscle strength, mass, and physical ability before surgery. They then tracked complications, hospital stay length, and how quickly patients returned to normal activities to see if muscle loss was linked to worse outcomes.
