Can a smartphone app help young sarcoma survivors manage pain?

NCT ID NCT07402577

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether a 3-month daily survey program (called ecological momentary assessment) is practical and acceptable for tracking chronic pain and opioid use in adolescent and young adult sarcoma survivors. About 40 survivors aged 12 to 24 at diagnosis, who still have meaningful pain, will use their smartphones to answer daily questions. The goal is to see if this approach works for future research, not to treat pain directly.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that daily surveys are a practical way to monitor pain and opioid use in young sarcoma survivors, pointing toward better pain management strategies.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 40 participants. It does not test any treatment, so it may not lead to direct improvements in pain or opioid use.
