Frailty may predict quality of life after emergency heart surgery in seniors
NCT ID NCT07677319
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple frailty score can predict how well people aged 75 and older recover one year after emergency heart surgery. Researchers will track quality of life and survival in 265 participants over 12 months. The goal is to see if frailty, measured before surgery, is linked to fewer quality-adjusted life years after the operation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If frailty is confirmed as a key predictor, doctors could better identify older patients who may need extra support after emergency heart surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Results may not apply to all older adults or hospital settings.
