Robot surgeons take on gallbladder cancer in global trial
NCT ID NCT06246448
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study compares robotic-assisted surgery to traditional open surgery for gallbladder cancer. About 94 patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The main goal is to see which approach helps patients recover faster after surgery, measured by pain control, mobility, and ability to eat. Researchers will also look at hospital stay length, complications, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Robotic-assisted surgery
What this could lead to
If successful, robotic surgery could lead to faster recovery and shorter hospital stays for gallbladder cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (94 participants) and results may not apply to all patients. Robotic surgery may not improve outcomes or could have higher costs.
