Heart failure patients may get better pacemaker results with PET-CT guidance

NCT ID NCT07640022

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using detailed PET-CT scans to guide where a pacemaker lead is placed can improve heart function in 20 people with heart failure. Participants will receive a standard pacemaker, but the lead position will be chosen based on scan data. The goal is to see if this approach boosts the heart's pumping ability and eases symptoms.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

CRT-P/CRT-D implantation (a pacemaker device)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could improve heart function and reduce symptoms for heart failure patients who currently get less benefit from standard pacemaker therapy.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 20 participants. The additional radiation from scans, though low, is a risk, and the approach may not prove effective in larger trials.
