NCT ID NCT07634302
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether adding a resveratrol supplement to a low-calorie diet helps postmenopausal women with obesity and knee osteoarthritis. Ninety-seven women took either the diet alone or the diet plus 150 mg of resveratrol daily for 10 days. Researchers measured pain, function, and markers of joint health and inflammation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
resveratrol (a dietary supplement from Japanese knotweed)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, natural supplement to boost the benefits of weight loss for knee pain and joint health in older women.
What could go wrong
This was a very short, small trial (10 days, 97 women). The results may not apply to men, longer treatment, or other populations. Resveratrol can cause mild digestive upset.
