Exercise may ease leg swelling: new study tests resistance training with and without compression

NCT ID NCT07558317

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether resistance exercise (like leg presses) can reduce swelling in people with lower limb lymphedema, and whether wearing compression garments during exercise makes a difference. About 36 adults with confirmed lymphedema will do supervised resistance training 2-3 times per week for two 2-week periods—once with compression and once without. Researchers will measure leg swelling and symptoms before, during, and after each period to see which approach works best.
