New anesthesia combo may speed recovery after day surgery
NCT ID NCT07663877
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using a short-acting sedative (remimazolam) followed by a reversal drug (flumazenil) can help women wake up faster after hysteroscopic day surgery compared to standard anesthesia. About 124 adult women will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The main goal is to see if the new approach shortens the time from starting anesthesia to being ready for discharge, while keeping recovery safe and comfortable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Remimazolam (a short-acting sedative) and flumazenil (a reversal agent)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help patients wake up faster after day surgery and allow hospitals to run more efficiently.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (124 participants) comparing two anesthesia methods, not testing a new treatment. The results may not apply to other surgeries or patient groups.
